Sharing the Shaker Legacy

The Shakers believed in equality for all people, the importance of community, stewardship of the land, and carefully crafting material things in a way that mimicked the divine.

The Education Department at Canterbury Shaker Village is dedicated to sharing the 200-year-old legacy of the Canterbury Shakers through its programs for adults, children, families, students, teachers, and all of our visitors. We provide opportunities for learning and reflection through a series of diverse experiences including school programs, tours, workshops, lectures, demonstrations, vacation programs, special events, outreach and exhibits.
