During its heyday, the Village was alive with children. Hundreds of children, particularly orphans, were taken in by the Shakers and raised in the community. Today, we continue this Shaker tradition by offering many educational offerings for young visitors.
Canterbury Shaker Village can serve as the backdrop for many discussion topics; with 200 years of history and tradition to draw upon, the Village offers programming on subjects from science and innovation to religious history.
Groups can schedule their own tour with Village educators, choosing from an assortment of onsite educational programs covering a variety of topics.
Customized tour options are available to meet particular group needs.
Materials can also be tailored for a range of audiences – from elementary school and high school student through college students.
