The Canterbury Story Tour introduces visitors to the 200-year history, culture and innovations of the Canterbury Shakers. The Shakers’ worship, work and daily life are discussed on this guided tour through the Laundry and Dwelling House. Visitors see artifacts and interiors that have made the Shakers world renowned, and learn how the Shakers influenced and were influenced by the world.

Starts at the Visitor Education Center. 75 minutes.

The Shakers’ were a progressive and influential American utopian religious group whose ideals were reflected in their music and dance and their use of these in worship. An experiential, multi-sensory tour that engages visitors physically with Shaker history and culture through song and dance.

Starts at the Visitors Center. 40 minutes.
