Originally built in 1828 and 1877, the Garden Barn and Shed were essential facilities for drying herbs for use in the Shakers’ medicinal industries and for storing garden-related materials and equipment. Newly reconstructed, these buildings once again play a vital role in the care of Village gardens and the creation of garden products by providing drying and storage space. In addition, the Garden Barn is used for programs and special events.
