Canterbury Shaker Village offers many opportunities for visitors to experience the museum and grounds at their own pace. Self guided tours, accessible historic buildings, craft demonstrations and exhibits provide you the freedom to explore your own interests and keep to your own schedule while investigating this fascinating site.
The village has a network of nature trails that crisscross its nearly 700 acre site. The best marked trail takes visitors around Turning Mill Pond, where they can see the historic Pump House, beaver dams and human dams, and enjoy the flora and fauna of this beautiful and serene site. Trail maps are available at the Admissions Desk. The trail takes about 30 minutes to walk.
Visitors may also stroll through our extensive herbal and vegetable gardens.
