Woodworking Instructors
Marcel Durette, Woodturning
An avid turner since 1998, Marcel looks to nature for inspiration as well as a source of material for his work. With his work, he can give something back to nature while enhancing the environment of the owner. Marcel operates a small shop behind his home and visitors are welcome to stop by to see his current selection of work available for sale.
Broom Instructors
Everett Bailey, Shaker Broom Making
Everett Bailey has completed his fifth year in the Canterbury Shaker Village Broom Shop, making brooms and apprenticing with Jack Frost (thirty-five year Broom Squire). Having visited other broom makers in New England, Everett has found Mr. Frost’s tutelage to be exacting for the Shaker broom.
Broom Making has given Everett the opportunity to preserve a forgotten craft and has provided him the chance to illustrate through demonstrations, shows and workshops. He finds that broom making is not easy work, but very satisfying and is an expression of a creative urge to make something useful. He prefers to keep it simple, staying true to Shaker flat broom design.
Letterpress Printing Instructors
Jim Macnab, Letterpress Printing
Jim began letterpress printing in Jr. High school, at the age of 12. At the time, he had his own print shop at home, producing business cards, stationary, and wedding invitations. Jim enjoyed many years working in other fields, and in the spring of 2005, joined the Print Shop of Canterbury Shaker Village as a volunteer craft demonstrator, returning to his first love, Letterpress Printing.
