If you’ve ever thought it would be fun to make your own Shaker chair, this is the workshop for you! The first day, you’ll assemble and prepare a Shaker chair kit and learn to apply a paint, oil or stain finish. During the week, you’ll complete the finishing at home. The second day, you’ll learn to tape the seat.
Students will need material for taking notes and a Shaker chair kit and seat tape of their choosing. The chair kit and seat tape can be purchased from Shaker Workshops at https://www.shakerworkshops.com.
Instructor Dick Bennet was drawn to Canterbury Shaker Village in 2004 by his lifelong interest in woodworking. He has since served as a Museum interpreter, Shaker craft demonstrator, and workshop leader. $250 per person
