Two Anonymous Donors To Match Up to $10,000 in Support of Annual Fund
Canterbury Shaker Village has received two challenge gifts that will each match up to $5,000 in donations to its Annual Fund appeal from new donors. Matches from new donors will be capped at $500 per individual contribution.
“This wonderful opportunity encourages people who have yet to give to the Village this holiday season a chance to become involved,” noted Education Manager Kyle Sandler, who indicated both donors wish to remain anonymous. “It’s a chance for new donors to make twice the impact.”
Annual funds typically cover day-to-day operating expenses for nonprofit organizations, such as salaries, utilities, building maintenance, and administrative costs. “The Village’s Annual Fund provides a reliable source of income needed to ensure we can sustain activities throughout the year,” added Sandler.
These activities remind visitors of not just a shared past, but what “we would like to be as individuals today,” according to Juliana Phillips, longtime Village Corporator and Trustee. “The Shakers embodied gender and racial equity, pacifism, and sustainability—radical concepts for that time,” she said.
