Canterbury Shaker Village is a National Historic Landmark with a resonant sense of place, providing a rich experience for our visitors. Annual Membership is a wonderful way for people who love this unique place to participate in the legacy of the Shakers, who placed a high value on friendship, curiosity, beauty, creativity, and nature. Through your generous support of Membership, you help keep these values alive, while at the same time helping ensure our ability to maintain this beautiful, historically important property for future generations.

Membership Levels

Individual  |  $50
Core Membership benefits plus:

•   Free admission for one adult (children and youth may accompany free of charge)
Individuals with an interest in the history of New England and its landscape, or with any creative, historical, spiritual, or research interests, will especially benefit from this basic Membership; it makes a great gift for a friend—or for yourself!


Family/Household  |  $75
Core Membership benefits plus:

•    Free admission for two adults (children and youth may accompany free of charge)
Families in the region will find many occasions to visit Canterbury Shaker Village, taking in our beautiful setting, gardens, trails—and most importantly our National Historic Landmark architecture and historical narrative, presented in engaging tours, events, and workshops.


Long Distance  |  $100

•    An exclusive set of 5 Canterbury Shaker Village hand-printed letterpress cards and envelopes
You’re never too far away to enjoy the benefits of membership at Canterbury Shaker Village. Long-Distance Membership holders enjoy all the benefits of a Family/Household Membership, along with lovely hand-printed cards to send far and wide. Bring the family to Canterbury, less than two hours from Portland, Boston, and the White Mountains, and close to all the Capital Region of New Hampshire has to offer.

 

Friend  |  $250

•    Private tour for up to 6 adults, available once annually by appointment
At the Friend level of Membership at Canterbury Shaker Village, you help support our most crucial ongoing projects, allowing us to keep our buildings beautiful and our land pristine for future generations. Your Membership will help make this preservation possible. Your private tour, with up to 6 adults, offers special insight into our unique history.

 

Shaker Steward  |  $500
Core Membership benefits plus:

•    Free admission for 6 adults (children and youth may accompany free of charge)
•    Private tour for up to 6 adults, available once annually by appointment
•    Rental for up to 20 in the Gallery or Garden Barn, available once annually by appointment

Shaker Steward level Members at Canterbury Shaker Village help us continue some of the most exciting aspects of maintaining the village—presenting historical workshops, maintaining our gardens, archives, and collections, and hosting resident artists.  Membership at the Shaker Steward level will help make this dynamic activity possible. Your Membership level will be especially valuable with the private group tour for 6 and the Gallery or Garden Barn rental, to be scheduled through our main office.


Henry Blinn Beekeepers  |  $1,000

Core Membership benefits plus:

•    Free admission for 6 adults (children and youth may accompany free of charge)
•    Private tour with up to 12 adults, available once annually by appointment
•    Rental for up to 20 in the Gallery or Garden Barn, available once annually by appointment

Join us at the Henry Blinn Beekeeper level, assuring that your support will honor our history and your creative spirit—allowing you to become an active part of that history through Membership.  Elder Henry Blinn, who came to Canterbury in 1838, was one of the 19th century’s most devoted and capable Shaker leaders. In addition to teaching school and serving in the New Hampshire ministry, he was a skilled beekeeper, dentist, fine woodworker, and printer. Henry Blinn Beekeepers, as Members in this tradition of dedicated action, will receive all the privileges of membership at Steward level; your additional private tour will be conducted by the Executive Director for any group of up to 12 people.
