Join the Canterbury Shaker Village Family
The work of the Village requires many helping hands. We are fortunate to have volunteers who provide invaluable assistance supplementing the work of the paid staff – please consider contributing your time and talent:
Collections: Renee Fox, our Collections Manager, does a heroic job of caring for our collections. Help is needed with projects ranging from supervising visiting researchers to entering information into our database system.
Special Events: We always need volunteers to help with our signature special events throughout the year from May-December. Tasks include greeting visitors, helping with family-friendly crafts and activities, and assisting with event set-up and clean-up.
Craft Demonstrations: If you have a special skill, or the desire to learn something new, consider becoming a Village demonstrator. Our demonstrators volunteer two or more days per month and showcase historic trades from spinning to oval box making throughout our open season from May-October. Training can be provided.
Volunteer benefits include: Membership eligibility (based on volunteer hours), discounts at the Museum Store, Farmstand, and on workshops, and invitations to volunteer appreciation events.
