Canterbury Shaker Village – Board of Trustees

Incorporated as a museum in 1969 by the last living Shakers in New Hampshire, Canterbury Shaker Village (CSV) is a 694-acre National Historic Landmark with 25 restored Shaker buildings that hold collections of national significance. As the home of a Shaker community for 200 years (1792-1992), the Village preserves a unique record of the evolution of the Shakers from their beginnings in the 1700s through the changes in communal living, technology, and leadership that this utopian society experienced in the succeeding centuries.

We are currently seeking an individual with a background in construction project management, construction operations, experience in building renovation and/or restoration, real estate and/or property/housing development.  If you have expertise in project management, selecting and vetting contractors, an understanding of (and patience with) various permitting procedures, and want to think creatively about potential building use to enhance CSV and attract visitors, we’re eager to meet you.

These qualifications should be matched with an interest in the Shakers’ legacy and the importance of their demonstrated success in an intentional community – architecturally, agriculturally, pragmatically, and joyfully!
