Jim Dozet Duo to Perform at Music on the Green

Known for their folk-influenced brand of Americana, the Jim Dozet Duo will perform at Canterbury Shaker Village on Sunday, July 31 as part of its Music on the Green series. Held every Sunday from 4:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m., the music series now also features Beans & Greens Farm’s Taco Food Truck.

Canterbury Shaker Village Loses Roger Gagne

Canterbury Shaker Village lost one of its beloved supporters, Roger Gagne, who served on the board from 1994-2012 much of that time as Chair of the Building Committee, contributing much to the Village’s ongoing construction and restoration projects. He passed away peacefully on June 14, 2022 surrounded by his four sons.

On Sunday, July 24, The Mink Hills Band will perform at Canterbury Shaker Village as part of its Music on the Green series. Taking its name from the beautiful and remote Mink Hills of the Sunapee region, The Mink Hills Band has been playing bluegrass, swing, folk, and original compositions throughout northern New England for more than 20 years.

The official transition to summer occurred at the solstice in June. The longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere is past and the duration of daily sunlight begins to decrease day by day. True to the Shakers and their Village, this time of year means summer maintenance and preparing for winter months by harvesting food for all – livestock and people.

The Canterbury Shakers emphasized knowledge, innovation, and appreciation of the natural world in nearly everything they did. The CSV arboretum, a ‘garden’ of trees, remains a testament to the Shaker spirit to this very day.
